This essay analyzes Non Governmental Organizations in the field of health and the society projects in dispute, from a historical perspective between past and present emphasizing the work of social workers. The essay was elaborated from observations developed from professional experience.

Assistente social, Mestre em Serviço Social pela Escola de Serviço Social da UFRJ, especialista em Saúde Mental Coletiva pela Escola de Saúde Pública do Rio Grande do Sul. Professora da graduação em Serviço Social da Universidade Veiga de Almeida (UVA-RJ) e da Pós-graduação em Responsabilidade Social, pesquisadora integrante do núcleo de pesquisa Transversões(UFRJ).
