Abstract

The mental health of adolescents under social-education measure imposed by the legal system is an important health issue considering that these young people are exposed to a greater risk of mental health problems. The sistematic review using the PRISMA methodology identified that the most common mental health problems are anxiety, depressive and post-traumatic stress symptoms. The risk factors associated with mental illness include a history of violence, substance abuse, school dropout and low socioeconomic status. The social-educational programs have demonstrated promising results in reducing mental health problems and promoting well-being. It is concluded that adolescents under socio-educational measures need mental health care in view of the emotional difficulties and social vulnerabilities of this population
