Alceu Ravanello Ferraro: for a marxist sociology in/of education

Abstract

This essay pays homage to the intellectual and political trajectory of the Brazilian researcher Alceu Ferraro and his contribution to Sociology. Thus, the text is organized in three parts: in the first, we will highlight the trajectory of Ferraro's intellectual life and his interlocution in teaching and research in higher education; in the second, we will indicate the main contributions of his doctoral thesis, which sought to reflect the Church from the Natal Movement. In the third part, we will list the main references of the researcher in the field of sociology and education, where the Marxist method was a determining element in his theoretical and pedagogical elaborations.
